Sammie is a sweet young neutered male Bengal mix (according to our vet) who is about 9 months old. He is extremely bright, energetic, engaging, and affectionate. He is very healthy and well fed, and was well looked after when we found him. His coat is lovely and soft – a bit like a rabbits fur.
He is most happy chasing balls, feathers, and the laser pointer, but is also happy to sit in your lap purring while you work on the computer (he does enjoy following the mouse pointer on the screen, and occasionally licks the monitor or walks on the keyboard). He uses the litter box perfectly and enthusiastically eats both wet and dry food. He is very happy at mealtimes and encourages us to get the bowl on the floor in a hurry.
We have been taking him out in the snow this week, where he bounds around chasing snowballs, tennis balls, and our other cats. We believe he’s a high % mix of Bengal and something else, based on his lovely spots and temperament – the vet picked up on his “heritage” right away. He is not in anyway shy or fearful – he is very confident, curious, and outgoing and is extremely friendly with people, happily following you around the house or hanging out with you in the family room like a dog. He is very energetic and spends lots of time playing. His favorite toys are a dragonfly on a wire and a little stuffed opossum on a fishing pole – he can chase both for hours if you let him. He also enjoys bottle cap hockey on the kitchen floor. He sleeps quietly through the night in one of our spare rooms.
We have been fostering Sammie since he was found wandering in the Yokes parking lot three weeks ago. We have looked for his owners, but have not had any response. He will be best in a home with older kids. It seems that other pets are fine – he gets along with our other three cats, but scares our shy one a bit with his playfulness. He will also be fine on his own – he is very resourceful and seems to enjoy human company best of all. He enjoys riding in the car and is incredibly curious about everything. He will make someone a wonderful and engaging companion.
Sammie would love to find a forever home. A small rehoming fee will apply to cover a vet trip (and of course, his favorite toys would go along with him).
